Application software for the estimation of lightning incidence to towers. TLIC runs as an Android application and features a user-friendly graphics interface. For given tower height, ground flash density, lightning crest current distribution and topographical factors the number of downward lightning flashes per year can be easily estimated based on several lightning attachment models. The application software is a useful tool for utilities for the estimation of the expected rate of lightning flashes to tower-like objects such as telecommunication towers and wind turbines and can also be used for educational purposes in high voltage engineering courses.
